Join us for a day of enjoying the sun on a bike ride around quiet parts of Calgary!  This will likely be a first of a kind in Canada for nude recreation.

This is NOT a protest.  We respectfully request that people DO NOT write things on their bodies.

Participation & Tickets: Due to COVID-19, participants not from the same household must remain 2m apart at all times.  Our permit for this event requires us to limit this activity to 50 people max. We must comply with AHS regulations for the pandemic at all times.

More info available from AHS HERE regarding health precautions that must be followed at all times.

Event Details

When: Sunday July 5, 2020 @ 2:00pm (Rescheduled from June 28)

Meeting location: MAP

Route:  12 km loop that brings us back to the starting point. The ride will take place on paved pathways with no streets to cross.  There will be one vicious hill that we will all likely push our bikes up. The rest will be flat or downhill.  A bike with gears is recommended.  The pace will be approximately 10 km/h, and we will wait as needed for slower riders. Please be able to peddle a distance of 12 km. The bike ride will take just over 1 hour. Click here for the route map.

Washrooms:  None

Guests: Please bring your friends but be sure to register them!  Email CalgaryNudeRecreation@Gmail.com to add additional guests if you have already registered yourself.

Suggested donation: $5-10 to cover permit fees. Nobody will be turned away.

Our Values

This is a celebration of body positivity and a temporary escape from the shame and stigma that surrounds the human body in its natural form.  We are promoting values that are beneficial to our community.  We are demonstrating these values are already compatible with our culture.

Our values are:

  1. EVERYONE deserves to be respected, regardless of what they are (or aren't) wearing.  This respect extends to every person, regardless of  race, sexual orientation, gender identity, size, shape, or any other factor.
  2. It is important for people to know that it is okay to be unashamed about their bodies.  We recognize how ingrained cultural shame is, and we invite people to join us wearing as much or as little as they wish.
  3. Our values are not limited to nudity; our philosophy can be applied very widely within our society.  We believe that our culture would be far healthier, resulting in an improved quality of life, if the values we are promoting were more widely accepted.  Nudity is simply one way of expressing our values in a way that is visible to others.
  4. We have no desires to push our philosophy or our form of recreation on others.  We simply wish for people to know we exist, to know that its okay that we exist, and that those for whom our values resonate with are welcome to join us whenever they are ready.
  5. We know that the majority of our community would appreciate our values if they were aware of them.  We believe this to be true even if they do not wish to join us.  We are demonstrating what actual naturism looks like in real life, and we are doing it in a way that is not proselytizing.

Additional Details

Most of you have probably heard of the World Naked Bike Ride.  Our bike ride differs from the WNBR considerably.  The notable differences are:

  • This is NOT a protest.  This is a visual expression of our values in real life and in a fun way.
  • This bike ride is NOT being promoted to the general public and the media is NOT being invited.  Ideally, other than the random people we will pass, no one will not know about this until after the fact.
  • This bike ride will take place on quiet bike paths away from busy roads.
  • We do not believe we need to write things on our bodies to express our values or engage in nude recreation and naturism.

To be really clear, this is a REALLY big deal for nude recreation in Canada. Come be a part of it and enjoy the sun with us!
