Destination: MAP

DO NOT PARK ON GRAY EAGLE DRIVE TO SHORTEN YOUR HIKE.
YOUR VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED.

Details: Its about a 40 minute walk to Calgary's unofficial nude beach. We will peel off unwanted clothes on the dirt path away from the busy area. Be sure to bring bug spray! This hike requires mild levels of dexterity to navigate the trail.

Come join us for a rare opportunity inside our wonderful city!

Admission: FREE, bring your friends!

Registration: Not required, but if you register then we can send updates if the weather changes.

Things to bring:

  • sun block and bug spray
  • towel
  • water shoes if desired
  • snacks
  • drinking water
  • a sense of adventure!

COVID Precautions: Due to COVID-19, participants not from the same household must remain 2m apart at all times. To prevent the group from being too spread out and to adhere to health policies put in place, we will cap attendance as necessary to ensure compliance and a trouble-free event. Registration is required for you and any guests you want to bring.

More Details: We will wear clothes out of the parking area and far enough up the trail to get to a quieter area. The hike requires a moderate degree of physical dexterity and will involve fallen logs, steep inclines/declines, mud, crouching, and some bushwhacking. It is approximately 2.5 km (each way) from the parking lot to the beach. If you miss the group and want to find your way to the beach, stay on the north side of the river and keep walking until you get to the beach. Do not cross any fences; the most prominent trail is typically the best one. Be aware of trails that have washed into the Elbow river.

Location information:  Weaselhead is Calgary's long standing unofficial nude beach. On hot days there are often a number of nude sunbathers present. Occasionally, passers-by end up on the other side of the creek, but this is a mostly really secluded location. There are no rafters, but the new ring road is being built near by and often has construction workers present. It is unknown how the new ring road will impact this site once the road is open. DO NOT PARK  ON EAGLE GRAY DRIVE TO SHORTEN THE HIKE.
